I learned one very important less from this week’s episode of “Chuck”: that if I’m ever a manager, and have a stable of workers under me, they are so totally going to be called “Ryan’s Stable of Ho’s”. That, like certain Salt ‘n Pepa albums, is very necessary.
Chuck’s first field mission went pretty much as expected: but then again, I’m not looking for “Chuck” to upend the spy drama. I’m not tuning in for a weekly deconstruction of the genre. The government needs Chuck, he luckily he sees something that triggers part of his cerebral database, hilarious and luckily non-lethal hijinx ensue, and Chuck escapes by the hair of his chin, assuming he’s actually able to grow facial hair.
I do ponder two things, one serious, one not so much.
Serious Pondering: What exactly was Bryce’s agenda? Possibly the neatest part of tonight’s episode was the insinuation that Bryce planted those tests under Chuck’s bed at Stanford, the discovering of which by school officials prompted his expulsion. This, coupled with Chuck’s meeting of a former classmate who got rich through insider trading, sets Chuck up as the “noble” man amidst a sea of cheats and liars. Was Bryce’s final act an act of redemption, or simply one last way to screw over the man whom he saw as his greatest rival?
Not-So-Serious Ponderosa: Just how long will Chuck’s internal database continue to produce valuable information? I mean, my understanding is that Chuck got a one-time upload of dated information. Given how fast the world of intelligence ostensibly moves, wouldn’t said database be useless within a few weeks? I really would have a hard time taking this show seriously if, five months from now, Chuck can look at a beer stein and realize there’s a dead drop that night for a shipment of bazookas in the Los Angeles area. After all, “Chuck” is asking us to believe that every major international incident happens within a 10-mile radius of the Buy-More.
I’m still on-board with this show, as a fun diversion to be watched on DVR in order to breeze through the commercials. Life’s too short to watch any TV in real time, for that matter. (Pretend you didn’t read that, advertising world.

Better Tonight than last week. That’s what I kept on saying throughout the episode. Better writing, timing, etc.
I agree with the info will go cold angle, they need to slip in some “upgrades” through chuck’s e-mail, (they are still building the new computer with all the decades of info for the next six months, but the can slip some firmware upgrades to chuck temporarily) or else this show will end up looking like “Cold Case” right quick.
The blonde is hot, but not as hot as Tyra on Friday Night Lights. Which is the best show on TV rght now until February. How I miss you Lost!
This episode was much better than the last one - the girl-on-girl fighting was - as Borat says, “Very Nice!” Overall, I think the show is entertaining, but as you point out - can they continue with the same premise forever? As Bob from Bob’s Discount Furniture says, “I Doubt it!”
