My Writing Schedule for Fall 2010

For months, the masses have cried out, “Tell us, Ryan: where will you be writing this Fall?” And by “masses” I mean “my mom,” who doesn’t even really know about this blog. So announcing it here might be kinda pointless. On the other hand, it gets me out of a phone call. So you take the good with the bad and produce something not unlike the facts of life.

Most people know my writing through my old “Lost” blog, so it’s not always apparent to everyone that I’ve been writing about other shows for the past few years as well. A quick glance down the “Categories” column on the main page here should give you an idea of how many shows I’ve covered, to one extent or another, since I started writing about television. With “Lost” now over, I have a chance to not only watch more shows, but spend more time and energy writing about them as well.

fringe-114-04.jpgFirst up: I’ll be returning to HitFix this Fall, where I have been recapping shows since 2008. Apparently, I’m the recapping equivalent of being on the front cover of a Madden videogame, as both “Heroes” and “24” ended last year while on my (literal) watch. But luckily, near the end of last spring I picked up both “Fringe” and “Glee,” and will be recapping every episode of those shows over there starting in a few weeks time.

Secondly: I’m excited to finally announce that I’ll be joining the team over at AOL’s TV Squad and recapping a multitude of shows over there. Specifically, I’ll be recapping “Chuck,” “The Event,” “Hawaii 5-0,” and “Nikita.” Joining TVSquad is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m excited to bring my particular sensibility to those four shows over there.

In addition: “Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan” isn’t going anywhere. The weekly podcast with myself and Maureen “Mo” Ryan (herself now fully launched over at AOL) will continue to produce new, weekly episodes. As always, you can subscribe to the podcast over at iTunes, or listen to them as embedded MP3s over at Mo’s site, or scoop up the MP3s here. It’s up to you.

But that’s not all. In addition to all of the above, I’ll continue recapping “Mad Men” on a weekly basis here, in addition to other shows such as “Sons of Anarchy,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and a host of other shows. The best way to know about everything I write is to keep your eyes here. Even when I post to HitFix and TVSquad, I’ll provide short entries here linking you to the main content. BoobTubeDude is my home base on the interwebs, and your one-stop shop for my TV POV.

I look forward to sharing the new season of shows with you! Hope you come along for the ride. Should be a lot of fun.

Look forward to your Chuck, Nikita, and The Event recaps!

Put the word out on Twitter for Chuck fans to follow so hopefully that will generate some traffic for you.

    All the best!

PS – here is also to hoping that The Event can become a successor of sorts for Lost.

I like the news. You are one of my favorites to read and listen to, and it’s nice to see you an Mo together on two fronts now. I’ll be reviewing Sons over at TVFanatic this fall so I’ll be sure to swing by to hear your impressions of the new season.

Great news! I’m really enjoying the summer edition of the podcast, and looking forward to read your reviews on a weekly basis…less than a week for SOA to come back!

Congratulations on getting such great gigs, Ryan. You deserve it. I still miss your Lost updates every week, so I’m happy to hear you’ll be doing The Event and Fringe as well as continuing with Mad Men. And it’s great to know I can follow it all through this blog!
