In addition to our weekly “Mad Men”-centric podcast, Maureen “Mo” Ryan and I had the distinct pleasure and honor to talk to Shawn Ryan, whose television credits include the seminal drama “The Shield” in addition to credits on “The Unit,” “Lie to Me,” “Terriers,” and the upcoming Chicago-based cop drama “Ride Along.”
Mo and I spent an hour with Ryan on the podcast this week (making it essentially a one-time “Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan and Ryan”). The first third of the chat involved FX’s “Terriers.” The second third involved FOX’s upcoming “Ride Along.” And the third part came from Shawn’s desire to share with us “Five Things That Showrunners Hate.” This last third blew our minds, as he led us inside the writers’ room to reveal five problems about producing television that will definitely surprise you.
As per usual, you can subscribe to the podcast here. You can also download all podcasts directly from Mo’s new digs over at AOL, although subscribing is your best option to ensure you get all episodes of “Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan” as soon as they are available. If iTunes isn’t your thing, here’s another link for downloading MP3s.
It’s a fascinating hour of television conversation. Enjoy!
